    WHAT YOU CAN DO

    1. To stand in solidarity with international students and scholars, immigrants, and refugees, engage with Welcoming Week 2020. NAFSA is proud to partner again with Welcoming America to promote this annual celebration, which this year runs from Saturday through September 20. Here are a just a few of the creative ways higher education is engaging with #WelcomingWeek this year:
      • Penn State Law Center for Immigrants' Rights Clinic and the Borough of State College will release a short video about Welcoming International Students to State College;
      • Project FINE and Winona State University (MN) are hosting a panel of naturalized citizens who will share their experiences and provide insight into the challenges of becoming a United States citizen, and
      • The Kennesaw State University (GA) Museum of History and Holocaust Education and CivicGeorgia will hold a conversation about legislative turning points in U.S. immigration history as well as the ebb and flow of welcoming and exclusion in the American experience.

    Social media is a great way to show your support, especially in these COVID days when organizing events is tricky. Considering competing in the Welcoming Week photo contest; snapping and sharing a picture holding a "I am a Welcomer" sign that is available for download in multiple languages, or sharing a story on social media that shows how your campus or community is manifesting the welcoming spirit international educators are known for. There are fun social media stickers and filters you can use also. Drop us a line at grassroots@nafsa.org with what you plan to do!
